This chapter attempts to show how, as the True Wealth of National project proposes, the economic and cultural criteria identified in the tradition of Catholic social thought can provide an effective path to sustainable prosperity for Africa. The chapter is organized into four parts. The first section is devoted to the clarification of terms, while the second undertakes a delineation of those features of Africa, including economic conditions there today, which are relevant to our project. The third section identifies some of the salient economic and cultural criteria in Catholic social teaching (CST), which, if taken seriously, would point Africa to the path of sustainable economic progress. The fourth and final section offers concluding observations.
