Although Edwards is best known for his influence on subsequent theology in New England, he also attracted followers in the Presbyterian churches of both Scotland and America. This chapter discusses the transatlantic Presbyterian descendants of Edwards, recounting how they adapted Edwards’s teachings for their churches--even as they distanced their appropriation of Edwards from those of opponents in post-Puritan New England.
