One of the understudied aspects of Edwards’s theological legacy is the role it played in shaping Anglo-American Baptist thought. This chapter surveys how English and American Baptists, especially, made good use of Edwards’s writings, doctrines, and missionary fervor. Edwards not only helped to give shape, through the work of English Baptists, to the modern missions movement; he also proved important to the emergence of the Southern Baptist Convention in America.
