This chapter attempts to situate the practice of screendance in academe, and in so doing maps out a new territory for pedagogy that is inclusive of the histories of the visual arts and other contemporary practices that have helped to shape the genre. It offers a new paradigm for teaching the subject in higher education, one that relies more on the practices of the arts outside of the purview of dance while acknowledging that dance is a vital component of the framework in which screendance is placed.
