This brief concluding chapter revisits one of the motivating questions of the book: Should individuals or groups, particularly those marginalized on the basis of a particular identity, turn to the language of rights to advance democratic values, ends, and practices? Answering this question in the affirmative, this chapter reminds readers that rights claiming is an important democratic practice not because it guarantees a particular political, legal, or social outcome but because it invites individuals to practices and develop the skills of citizenship while reimagining the contours of community.
