This concluding chapter summarizes the findings of the book and discusses the implications of those findings for the development of international relations theory and Cold War historiography. To the extent that bringing society back into social constructivism has produced convincing explanations for many Soviet relationships from 1945 to 1958, it points to the need for international relations theorists to pay more attention to how societies construe themselves.
