Srinatha’s masterpiece is the Bhimesvara-puranamu or Bhima-khandamu, which tells the story of the major temple of Daksarama in the Godavari delta. Here we have an example of a poet who creates and lyrically embodies the god of a great temple. This book also tells the story of Vyasa, the Sanskrit poet who was exiled from Benares by the curse of Siva and who undergoes a personal transformation in Daksarama. The text is thus a study in the experience of exile and rebirth.
