This chapter begins an exploration and discussion of the complexities behind faith-based provision of early childhood development (ECD) services (e.g., absence of clear, systematic data). A review of the fairly limited available literature and inclusion of two distinct case studies of faith-based ECD efforts illuminate the potential of such provision, as well as some of the sensitivities that can arise. Although faith-based provision can help to reach marginalized populations that might otherwise be left out, more research and understanding is needed.
