The rationale of postmodern thinkers for attacking and subverting the representational mode of thinking is examined in this chapter, which looks at the theory of religion and method of Mircea Eliade as a representative of this type of scholarship and thinking. This chapter also examines the attempt by postmodernists to break free from a form of intellectual bondage exemplified by this type of thinking dating to the Enlightenment period.
