Carbon Capture and Sequestration

Show Summary Details

Burning fossil fuels adds to atmospheric carbon dioxide, which contributes to climate change. But replacing fossil fuels with “green” energy sources will take decades to implement, and fossil fuels will continue as the primary global energy source well into the twenty-first century. Capturing and sequestering carbon dioxide promises to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions during the technology transition, but the process must be proven reliable and cost-effective for use in large-scale fossil-fuel-driven power plants.
