Sextus Erucius Clarus, protégé and friend of *Pliny (2) the Younger, was the nephew of Septicius Clarus, Praetorian prefect early in Hadrian's reign. After a slow start, Erucius won distinction as legionary legate in *Trajan's Parthian War, capturing *Nisibis. He became city prefect under Antoninus Pius and was consul for the second time (as ordinarius) in ce 146, but died in the same year.
