Humphrey, George Magoffin (08 March 1890–20 January 1970), secretary of the U.S. Treasury, was born in Cheboygan, Michigan, the son of Watts Sherman Humphrey, a lawyer, and Caroline Magoffin. The family moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where Humphrey attended public schools. In 1908 Humphrey entered the University of Michigan, from which he received an LL.B. in 1912....
