Parker, John Johnston (20 November 1885–17 March 1958), lawyer and judge, was born in Monroe, North Carolina, the son of John Daniel Parker, a poor grocer, and Frances Ann Johnston. He worked his way through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and its law school, where he received an A.B. in 1907 and an LL.B. the following year. He married Maria Burgwin Maffitt in 1910; they had three children. Parker practiced law in Monroe until 1922, when he moved to Charlotte, where he opened the firm of Parker, Stewart, McRae & Bobbitt....
