Ford, John Thomson (16 April 1829–14 March 1894), theater manager, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Elias Ford, a shoemaker, and Anna Greanor. After some education in Baltimore city schools, he left at the age of fifteen to become a clerk in his uncle William Greanor’s tobacco factory in Richmond.
