Breese, Edmund (18 June 1871–06 April 1936), actor, was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Renshaw Breese and Josephine Busby. He left both public school and home at the age of fifteen to roam the West, working as a farmhand and feed salesman for nine years. Despite his various vocations, Breese nursed acting ambitions and in 1895 obtained a job with an acting company in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, by lying about his stage experience.
