Leigh, Janet (06 July 1927–03 October 2004), actress, was born Jeanette Helen Morrison in Merced, California, to Fred Morrison, who held various jobs in insurance and real estate, and Helen Westergaard. Two years later the family moved to Stockton, California. Growing up in Stockton, Jeanette was precocious and talented, skipping grades in elementary school and excelling in music and dance. From childhood she was a movie fan and entertained her parents with stories of film stars. In high school she was a drum majorette, sang in the choir of the local Presbyterian church, and chafed at parental restraint that kept her from dating....
