After studying architecture, Knud Agger taught himself to paint. He travelled through northern Europe as far south as France. He won the Edvard Munch prize in 1938. He painted many murals, such as those in the banqueting hall of Struer College in 1939 and in the council chamber of Søllerød town hall in 1941.
