Born 1818, in Vienna; died 1886.

Painter. Portraits, animals.

He trained under Amerling, who made a very good portrait painter of him. In 1848, he joined the revolutionary faction in Vienna, commanding the academic legion, and was captured when the city was taken. Condemned to death, the artist was reprieved following the intervention of Austrian commander Prince Windischgrätz. Aigner hanged himself in 1886.
