Initially a soldier, Jonas Akesson began to study painting in 1901 at the art academy in Stockholm. In 1904 he stayed in Paris. While continuing to send works to Swedish exhibitions, he took part in the Salon des Artistes Français, receiving an honourable mention in 1905. His open-air painting of Summer was exhibited in Stockholm in 1906. In
