Born 1 October 1834, in Leipzig.

Sculptor.

He learnt the rudiments of sculpture from Knaur. Subsequently he went to the academy of arts in Leipzig, later polishing his skills by studying the works of Rietschel and Hanel. His first two works, a Bacchus and a Gambrinus, were so successful that terracotta copies proliferated. He also made a large number of statuettes intended for reproduction
