Jean-Bertrand Andrieu entered the École de l'Académie Royale on 21 August 1788 under the patronage of Julien, and was still attending there in 1791. He is mentioned by M. Herluison on the occasion of his son's baptism, 3 June 1789. He had studied engraving with Lavau and in 1776
