Born 9 September 1874, in Middlesbrough; died 22 February 1963, in Alresford (Hampshire).

Painter. Portraits, landscapes.

Appleyard studied under Albert Strange at the Scarborough School of Art, at the Royal College of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools, where he won the Creswick Prize for landscape. In 1903, he painted murals in the Royal Academy refreshment room and at Nottingham Hospital
