Jean Jacques Aubert served an apprenticeship under his former mentor Guenin, then moved to Paris, where he worked under Peyron. He returned to Marseilles soon after, where he received numerous commissions, notably for churches in Marseilles and that city's Palais de Longchamp. He was appointed director of the Marseilles
