[not available online]Étienne Aubry studied under Jacques-Augustin de Silvestre and Joseph Marie Vien and was strongly influenced by Jean-Baptiste Greuze. Having rapidly made his name as a portraitist and genre painter, he died at the young age of 36. He also painted historical subjects.
