Sculptor of assemblages.
Miroslaw Balka graduated from the academy of fine arts in Warsaw. From 1986 to 1989 he was a member of the New Responsibility group.
His early works had a rapport with the human figure in the form of sculpted self-portraits. Since around 1990 he has been assembling rusty pipes, thick planks of wood, cast-off furniture. De-materialised
