Engraver (burin).

Ballin studied under J. L. Lund and Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg at the Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi in Copenhagen. He embarked on a career as a painter and in 1841 exhibited the picture Procession to the Synagogue. However, he later devoted himself exclusively to engraving, which he studied in Leipzig
