Between 1919 and 1924, Jenö Barcsay was a pupil at the Ungarische Kunstakademie in Budapest. There, he studied with János Vaszary and Gyula Rudnay, who had some influence on his work. He received grants enabling him to travel and study in Paris in 1926,
