Francis James Barraud studied at Heatherley Academy and subsequently at the Royal Academy Schools. He also briefly attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Antwerp. He lived and worked in Liverpool. He exhibited in London between 1878 and 1890, at the Royal Academy, Suffolk Street and New Water-Colour Society.
