The famous actor Jean-Louis Barrault, founder of the Théâtre Renaud-Barrault, was a producer at the Comédie-Français and then later ran his own theatre. He commissioned many famous painters to design sets and costumes for his productions. As an artist, he exhibited his Realist Doll at the Salon des Humoristes in 1929.
