Alfred Barye perfected his skill in the studio of his father Antoine-Louis Barye. He exhibited a large number of bronzes of racehorses at Paris Salons between 1864 and 1866, followed by Flight of Partridge in 1874 and, in 1882, a genre bronze entitled 16th-century Italian Jester.
