A pupil at the École des Beaux-Arts in Avignon, Benoit Benoni-Auran studied under Pierre Grivolas, Jules Laurens and Cabanel. In 1888, he joined the studio of Jean-Baptiste Lavastre and collaborated on decorative paintings for the central dome of the Exposition Universelle in Paris, 1889. He exhibited with the Salon
