Born 11 January 1734, in Langres; died 10 January 1811, in Langres.

Sculptor.

Antoine Besançon was the godson and pupil of François Béchamp. Records show that he was active in Rome in 1753. He later made a number of sculptures for his home town of Langres: the first of these were two colossal statues - Charity and Hope- in 1768,
