Giuseppe Bezzuoli studied at the Florence Academy (instituted in 1786 by Jean-Baptiste Desmarais), initially under Luigi Sabatelli, and then under Petroni and Giuseppe Piattoli. He was a prolific painter, predominantly of historical themes. He settled in Rome in 1818-1819, where he studied
