Jacques Blanchard received training from Emmanuel Fougerat. He exhibited in Paris, at the Salons des Artistes Français from 1934 to 1936, and at the Salons des Indépendants from 1955 onwards. He became a member of the latter, and was awarded numerous distinctions. He often painted still-lifes of fruit with a technique that was practically photographic in
