Boeswillwald trained under Léon Bonnat in Paris, where he regularly exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. He became a member of this society, and was awarded an honourable mention in 1905, and a gold medal in 1926. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in 1928.
