Bottée studied under Dumont, Millet and Ponscarme. He won the Prix de Rome in 1878. He regularly exhibited at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français, and was admitted as a member. He was awarded a number of medals: third class in 1882, second class in 1887, first class in 1894,
