Painter, pastellist, lithographer. Religious subjects, allegorical subjects, portraits, genre scenes.

A pupil of Guillaume Lethière and Achille Dévéria, Louis Boulanger joined the École des Beaux-Arts on 9 March 1821, obtaining the second-class medal in 1827, followed by the first-class medal in 1836 and the cross in 1840.
