Antoine Bourlange studied under Alexandre Falguière and Antonin Mercié. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris from 1897; he was awarded a silver medal in 1903 and was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur in 1927. The titles of his works suggest genre scenes: The Shudder, The Awakening
