Active from 1927, then naturalised in Canada.
Born 1896; died 1969.
Painter (mixed media), engraver, draughtsman, watercolourist. Figures, landscapes.
Settled in Winnipeg in 1928, then moved to Montreal in 1934. Fritz Brandtner was initially influenced by the German Expressionists but was subsequently attracted by the work of Matisse. He painted landscapes and figures until around 1960, when his work became progressively abstract.
