Caimi was a pupil of Giuseppe Diotti in Bergamo and of Luigi Sabatelli at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where he later (between 1860 and 1878) became secretary. His works included Return from Babylon and Beheading of St John the Baptist
