A pupil of Cicéri, Cambon was an excellent decorative artist whose work can be seen in the Cirque Olympique, the Grand Theatre in Lyons, the Municipal Theatre of Brest and the Madrid Opera House. He subsequently worked alongside Philastre for two decades executing opera sets, notably for the Antwerp Opera.
