A pupil of Chardin, Philippe Canot was admitted to the Académie de St-Luc in Paris in 1763, and became a member of its council in 1767. Professor J.-P. Le Bas engraved his Cake of the Kings and The Dancing Master. He was a brother of Pierre Charles Canot and married
