Carli was a pupil of Pierre Cavelier and Louis Barrias. He sculpted a considerable number of monumental statues which decorate public parks in major cities in France, including one at Clermont-Ferrand.

He was admitted to the Société du Salon des Artistes Français in 1898, the year in which he also won
