[not available online]Madeleine Carpentier studied initially under Adrien Bonnefoy, then at the Académie Julian under Jules Lefebvre and Benjamin Constant. She painted principally still-lifes of fruit and flowers, but also genre compositions, often in pastels but always in soft, mother-of-pearl-like colours.

From 1885, Carpentier exhibited her work at the Salon
