Born 1699, in Lyons, in 1702 according to Larousse; died 14 April 1771, in Paris.

Painter, engraver.

The son of Jean-François Cars, Laurent Cars studied in Paris with Christophe, painter to the king, and then worked with Le Moine; he was accepted as an academician in 1773. He painted the portrait of Roger de Bussy-Rabutin, Bishop of Luçon and that of Samadon
