Born 1739, in Paris; died 1804, in Paris.


Louis Cathelin studied with J.-P. Lebas; he was approved by the Académie on 25 June 1774 and became an academician on 26 April 1777, with the Portrait of l'Abbé Terray, an engraving after Roslin. He first exhibited at the Salon in 1775, and continued to do so until his death.
