French, 20th century, male.

Born 1913, in Nantes.

Painter, watercolourist. Figures, landscapes, still-lifes.

Jean Catta participated in numerous group exhibitions, notably at the principal Paris salons. He exhibited solo on a regular basis as of 1960, notably at the Galerie Guigné in Paris in 1981. Catta's treatment of space is reminiscent of the Cubists; he offers a limpid yet persuasively realist view of nature.
