Pompeo Cesura arrived in Rome early in his career, and is said to have been a pupil of Raphael. He worked in churches, particularly in Rome and Aquila. He was an accomplished fresco painter, and was equally talented when painting in oils. He is best known for a Descent from the Cross, in
