Chenillion was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts on 5 October 1829, where he studied under David d'Angers and Daubigny. He made his Salon début in 1835 with a plaster statue showing a Young Captive Meditating upon His Enslavement. He exhibited for the last time in 1863. Chenillion received
