Gustave Auguste Corlin studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme, Fernand Humbert and Gabriel Guay, and worked alongside Puvis de Chavannes on the frescoes in the Pantheon in Paris. Corlin exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, of which he became a member. He was awarded the Prix Valérie Havant in 1920
